The RBPP will observe Bangladesh Victory Day (Bijoy Debosh) with a get together. This will be held on 16th December ~ more details will be made available nearer the time!

CHARITY IFTAR (RAMADAN GATHERING) - 14TH JULY 2015
The Rochdale Bangladeshi Partnership Project (RBPP), has arranged its annual charity iftar - we would like to invite you to come and join us for Iftar (breaking of the fast in the month of Ramadan) on Tuesday 14th July (27th day of Ramadan).
This is the 6th annual charity Iftar of the RBPP, this year we will be raising money for the charity - Apasen.
The event is free for anyone to attend - we particularly welcome non muslim friends to share the experience & learn more about fasting #shareramadan with us!
Booking is essential - so that we can cater for all :)
We ask all participants to make a donation however small or big (ideally a minumum of £10 per person/£5 children under 16)!!!

Time: 8.30pm (food will be served at sunset 9.35pm)

BANGLADESH INDEPENDENCE DAY - 26TH MARCH 2015, 11.00am - Rochdale Town Hall
The RBPP marked Bangladesh Independence at the flag raising ceremony outside Rochdale Town Hall, followed by a a get together at the Mayor's parlour.
SHAHEED DEBOSH /EKUSHEY (21ST) FEBRUARY - International Mother Language Day
The RBPP arranged a gathering at the CommuniTea Room to mark International Mother Language Day The United Nations' (UN) International Mother Language Day annually celebrates language diversity and variety worldwide on February 21. It also remembers events such as the killing of four students on February 21, 1952, because they campaigned to officially use their mother language, Bengali, in Bangladesh.
The International Mother Language Day, proclaimed by the General Conference of UNESCO in November 1999, has been observed yearly since February 2000 to promote linguistic and cultural diversity and multilingualism.

BANGLADESHI CELEBRATIONS EVENT - MARCH 2014
The RBPP is arranged a community event for families - a Bangladeshi celebration event ~ The event also marked the 5th Anniversary of the "Rochdale & Sylhet Friendship Link" This was following on from the independence day flag rasing at the town hall.

The United Nations' (UN) International Mother Language Day annually celebrates language diversity and variety worldwide on February 21. It also remembers events such as the killing of four students on February 21, 1952, because they campaigned to officially use their mother language, Bengali, in Bangladesh.
The International Mother Language Day, proclaimed by the General Conference of UNESCO in November 1999, has been observed yearly since February 2000 to promote linguistic and cultural diversity and multilingualism.
As part of this day the RBPP run activities in local schools and give talks to groups and in schools. If anyone is interested in learning more, please get in touch!
BIJOY DEBOSH - Victory Day celebrations
Bangladesh Victory day on 16th December 2013. The 9 month long Bangladesh Liberation War
was won on the eve of the 16th of December.The Bangla Nation- Bangladesh was freed, this day
is Celebrated as the Victory Day (বিজয় দিবস)all over Bangladesh and among Bangladeshis living
across the world to uphold the spirit of liberationand to pay tribute to the 3 million martyrs; who
laid down their lives.The day is marked with a flag raised outside Rochdale town hall to pay
respects to those who gavetheir lives for the freedom of the Bengali nation.
At the Bijoy Debosh (Victory Day) we do not gather outside town hall for flag raising -
we just arrange for it to go up, as a mark of respect.

Simon Danczuk MP for Rochdale will present information and share
information about his recent visit to Bangladesh. He went as part of the
all party parliamentarians group to see 1st hand what the situation is for
thousands of workers in the worlds 2nd largest garments industry.
Simon has met victims & families of the Savar tragedy.

the history of Bangladeshis living in the borough of Rochdale.
